In just a few hours, registration opens for the 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon. My friends and I have been planning on signing up for this race since April. Some of us are experienced half marathoners and others are new to running. Either way, it seems like a great race for all levels. We’ve assigned each other princesses to dress as.
My princess is kind of predestined. My mom made this when and I was in kindergarten AND she’s agreed to make pieces of my running costume for the race. SCORE!
The weather in New Orleans has been nasty. Lots of rain and thunder and lightning. Last night at Run Group, I ran with my friend Jessica and we passed tons of fallen trees and branches and had to avoid massive puddles. We ran the first 3.5 miles together at a pretty easy pace and then split up.
Mo and I got up very early this morning to bike together. He has to go to professional development training for the next two weeks and he was such a good sport about getting up early so that we could bike before he had to leave. Going a little easy the night before worked out well because we biked a bit faster than normal (still slower than the Speed Demon when he’s by himself without me holding him back) and I threw in a couple of extra running miles to boot at the end.
But man, I’ve got to look for a new Gu flavor or something today! About 8 miles into the ride, my stomach was growling and I knew there was nothing in the house I could eat before going running.
One more Disney pic. I’m just a little excited.
Ever done a big event race before, like a Disney race or a Rock N Roll? Crescent City Classic or Peachtree? They are a very different experience from a small race. My dad says those are events and that little local races are for PRs. Which do you prefer?
