Pure Flow!
Saturday Workout: 4.2 miles with my Dad!
Friday’s rainy run gave me a perfect excuse to go to Louisiana Running Company to try out the Brooks Pure line, since my Glycerins were soaked. I’ve been reading so much about the line on various blogs and was pumped to check them out. When Mo got his Brooks Adrenaline, he tried on the Pure Cadence and wants to get those next.
I tried on the Pure Connects first. These are supposed to be the most minimal of the Pure line. They felt a little too narrow for me, especially after years of wearing Birkenstocks and other shoes with wide toe boxes. I tried on the Flows next, which is what I ended up going with, since they are both neutral and had a wider toe box. Patrick from LRC and I talked a long time about the structure of the shoes and how they would affect my running gait. Plus, the Pure Flows come in my favorite color-PURPLE.
I ran in them Saturday morning with my dad. I am not sure if I was trying to force a new gait or if it was just natural. I definitely ran more on the balls of my feet but my calves weren’t sore like I had read some people’s were.
Running with my dad was great. He is still my favorite running partner. It was kind of special running with him for the Pure Flows inaugural run since I remember my first pair of running shoes that my dad bought me and how excited I was (Saucony Grid Titans). I would have never started running if it weren’t for my dad.
More pictures in the next post, I promise!
Who has inspired you? Maybe it was to start working out, maybe get a new job and pick up a new hobby you love.

i ran on pureconnects for about 4 months but in the end wasn’t that keen on them — too much arch support! Am still looking for the holy grail of lightweight/good fit/sufficient padding to go the distance . . .
I haven’t run any more than four miles on my flows yet. I’m really not sure how they would be for long distance running though.
