Heat Advisory
Workout: Bike 17.96 miles/ 115 min Run 3.35 miles/ ???
During yesterday’s Olympic Watching Marathon (as opposed to the actual Olympic Marathon), the bosses were huddled up in a little fort that we built for them in the middle of the couch. Which of course, left us little room to lounge.
I also advised Mo with GatorTrax coming up this weekend, he should be drinking lots of water. Obviously he was listening.
This morning when we started out, we had an idea of where we wanted to ride but not a strict route, so we wanted to use the Map My Ride app on my phone. The ride took longer than we thought it would and we forgot to stop the app when we stopped to take pictures or figure out where to go next. I wish it would detect when we were out 0 mph and just stop tracking that because we really rode much faster than the app says. Or we could just remember to stop the app while we are riding.
We used the bike map on Bike Easy to figure out some new bike friendly roads and trails in the city. Check it out if you ride in New Orleans.

The other side of the same light box. I’ve seen painted light boxes in Mid City and Lakeview. Anybody seen any Uptown?
The last picture was taken along Lakeshore Drive, which was a new riding route for me so that was fun. We also encountered an intense headwind along here. It was a really pretty street to ride along and seemed pretty bike friendly.
In the evening, Patrick and I went to Louisiana Running Company Run Group. I had been wondering all day how to break it to Patrick that I was thinking of only running the 3.35 mile loop instead of the 5 mile loop. My legs were feeling the morning’s ride and the heat wasn’t encouraging.
Luckily, when he got to my house, and I told him, he seemed relieved and said that sounded good to him. I hadn’t even realized there was a heat advisory but when he told me that, I wasn’t surprised; The heat index was around 101*.
I don’t have any clue how fast we ran, since I forgot to set my watch. but Patrick said he thought we were flying as compared to the last time we did Run Group together. I’ll take that.
I’m still watching the Olympics! Are you burned out yet?

I’m not burned out yet! I hate wanting to watch it & it’s not on or it’s only showing one event that I don’t care to watch. [Today that event was boxing.]
We just have it on kind of non stop. I was watching water polo wondering, are there college teams? There isn’t a professional league and it’s a team sport so where do these people come from?
That’s beast that you ran in this heat! LOL I decided not to go to LRC when I saw the heat advisory. That path along Lakeshore Dr. looks so pretty. I might have to add it to my list of runs!
The path is really pretty- no shade though!
