Samson No More
Workout: Run 3 miles/ 29:04 minutes Yoga Class/ 90 minutes
Today was supposed to be an epic day of exercise, but Mother Nature had something to say about it.
I made it out for 3 miles in the morning but when I got back inside, I had a text from Camp Sweat saying class was cancelled. I stepped back outside to run another 3 and was met with a flash of lightning, so I bowed out. Our treadmill needs to be serviced, so I was pretty much out of luck.
Mo and I had planned on going to yoga. Mo is much more experienced with yoga than me and likes this Vigorous Vinyasa class, and since it was a more intense class, I opted to go to that with him today. It was definitely more intense than the class I had planned to take and I’m not sure I could have done it after boot camp, but it was just right for today.
I had to get my hair cut today I know, I know, didn’t that just happen? I needed to get rid of the last couple of inches of color in my hair before school started.
This is the shortest my hair has been in about 5 years.
I have kind of a Samson-like relationship with my hair. I’ve kept it long for years. At first it was because I wanted to be a bride with long hair, but I had cut my hair to my shoulders a few months before our wedding, so I was determined to grow it as long as I could afterwards.
As I started to gain more weight, I thought I could hide behind my long hair. I’d often cover my face with it when I was feeling nervous or insecure. I needed it to feel pretty. At least if I was heavy, I still had this long flowing hair.
So getting it chopped off, for me at least, was a big deal. It was letting go of a lot of old feelings.
The icing on the cake was when Mo got home and was telling me about his day. About ten minutes into the conversation, he stopped suddenly.
“Oh. You got your hair cut. You look really pretty. It looks like when we very first started dating.”
Icing.

I love the honey badger shirt!! Where did you find it?
A local t shirt shop was selling it. There was an LSU football player nicknamed the Honey Badger so several shirts like it popped up around here for awhile. He was just dismissed from the LSU football team for failing a drug test.
That MO always knows the right thing to say. You do look super pretty with your new haircut.
Thanks! He is pretty smooth.
Oh la la. Love the new cut!!!
